Ceremonial Matcha

A celebration of tradition, craftsmanship, and intentional living.

$34.99

Our ceremonial matcha brings the timeless beauty of Japanese tea rituals into the modern home: 100% pure Japanese green tea powder, shade-grown, stone-milled and sourced from Japan. Rich in naturally occurring tea antioxidants, including catechins such as EGCG, matcha offers a distinctive way to enjoy green tea. Matcha also contains caffeine and L-theanine, compounds associated with alertness and attention. Each box holds twenty individually wrapped 2.5 g tea bags — whisk traditionally with warm water or enjoy as a creamy iced matcha latte.

Notes & rituals

Antioxidants & catechins

Green tea leaves are naturally rich in catechins, a family of plant polyphenols. Among them is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), the most studied catechin in tea.

Because matcha is milled from the whole leaf and whisked directly into water — rather than steeped and strained — you enjoy the leaf and its naturally occurring compounds in the cup.

Caffeine & L-theanine

Matcha naturally contains caffeine and L-theanine, an amino acid associated with alertness and attention.

Everyone's sensitivity is different — a traditional bowl, whisked with less powder and more water, is a gentle way to begin.

Preparation & serving

A bamboo whisk (chasen), a fine sift and a wide, warm bowl are the traditional tools — they make the foam effortless.

Serve usucha (thin tea) in a wide bowl, or pour whisked matcha over ice with your choice of milk for something modern.

The way of tea

Whisked matcha arrived in Japan with Zen monks, for whom the bowl of tea was a moving meditation.

From this practice grew chadō — the way of tea — a ceremony in which every gesture, utensil and guest is considered.

Its spirit is ichigo ichie: one time, one meeting. Each bowl happens once.

How to prepare — hot & iced

Hot (usucha): sift 2.5 g (two bamboo scoops) into a warm bowl. Add 70 ml of water at about 80°C. Whisk briskly in an M motion until a fine foam forms, then drink at once.

Iced matcha latte: whisk matcha with a splash of warm water until smooth, pour over a tall glass of ice, and top with your choice of milk.
